Pantry Cherry Pie


I let my fingers do the walking and found this much simpler recipe on the Pillsbury website. This pie is nearly effortless to make and it is good for something so simple to make. You will like it. Here is the recipe.


Pantry Cherry Pie

Ingredients:
1 (2 crust) package refrigerated ready to bake pie crust
3 cans water packed tart red cherries (not cherry pie filling)
1-2/3 cups sugar + sugar for sprinkling
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 tablespoons butter
Cream for brushing

Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
2) Prepare the bottom crust in a 10 inch pie plate.
3) Stir together sugar and flour in large bowl.
4) Drain cherries, and add to sugar mixture, stirring well. Add almond extract. Pour cherry mixture into pie crust and dot with slices of butter.
5) Cover with top crust. Brush top crust with cream. Sprinkle with sugar.
6) Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until bubbly and crust browned. Let sit for 2 hours before slicing. Yield: 8 servings.
